Over the past decade, our unwavering passion for these incredible pollinators has driven us to establish our own apiaries, situated in the enchanting vicinity of the Holy Well in Mothel. Surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of our Irish landscape, our bees have access to a diverse array of nectar sources, bestowing upon our honey its distinctive and unparalleled flavor.
Supported by the helping hands of devoted family and friends, our journey has yielded a remarkable range of honey products that we take immense pride in sharing with you.
At Holywell Honey, we believe in harmonious coexistence with nature. Our approach to beekeeping is rooted in organic, gentle, yet highly effective treatments that ensure the well-being of our industrious honey bees. Essential oils play a vital role in nurturing these hardworking creatures, contributing to their vitality and the quality of the honey they produce.
While our apiaries may not be vast, the unique character of our honey is a testament to the indigenous AMM Black Bees foraging on the diverse flora, from the foothills of the Comeragh Mountains. Many of these plants possess medicinal qualities, including the widespread Hawthorn, Willow, Chamomile, Blackberry, Lavender, and Comfrey.
In the latter part of the year, our bees collect nectar from heather and ivy, which endows our honey with properties that rival the esteemed Manuka. Importantly, our bees are never fed when they are actively producing honey. This ensures that the honey they create remains 100% pure, raw, and authentically Irish.
